In the National Council for Economics and Labor, appointed through a special nomination procedure pursuant to Law 936/1986, in addition to the president there are 64 representatives of the social forces of the business world, of self-employment and of dependent work and of some organizations of the public associative activity and voluntary organizations, according to the following breakdown:

  • 10 qualified representatives of the economic, social and legal culture, of which eight are appointed by the President of the Republic and two proposed by the Prime Minister;
  • 48 representatives of the productive categories, of which twenty-two representatives of the employees, three representing managers and public and private managers, nine representatives of self-employed and professions and seventeen representatives of the businesses;
  • 6 representatives of social promotion associations and voluntary organizations, of which, respectively, three appointed by the National Observatory of associations and three designated by the National Observatory for volunteering
