RENATO BRUNETTA HAS BEEN ELECTED AS THE NEW PRESIDENT OF THE CNEL

During the Assembly, which was held on Thursday 27 April in Rome in the presence of Tiziano Treu and Secretary-General Francesco Tufarelli, Professor Renato Brunetta assumed the role of President of CNEL, the National Economic and Labour Council.

Professor Renato Brunetta was appointed President of the 11th CNEL Council and Tiziano Treu, who is stepping down as President, made the announcement. Professor Brunetta then took the floor to address the councillors present in Parliament and those participating in remote mode.

"We will fully implement the CNEL's constitutional obligations as a vital institution for democracy. I would like to express my gratitude to President Treu and the council members for their outstanding work during the 10th parliamentary term. We will strengthen the advisory role to Parliament and the Government through the involvement of the social forces that are the true backbone of the nation," stated President Renato Brunetta.

"The balance of this term of office is positive and can be seen in the more than 200 documents produced on the main issues of interest to the country and recently also the PNRR, through constant listening and discussion with the social partners, responding to the request of President Mattarella, who in 1986 wrote the reform law, to enhance their prerogatives and attributions," continued Tiziano Treu.

The summary of the Report on the levels and quality of public services provided by central and local public administrations to businesses and citizens, as well as the approval of the memorandum on the examination of the 2023 DEF submitted to the joint Budget Committees of the Senate and Chamber of Deputies, were all approved in the assembly that witnessed the handover. Along with the proposal to revive the CNEL-ISTAT joint activities on BES-SDGS indicators, the monitoring findings for the PNRR measures and reforms aimed at young people were also presented.
