"The agreement reached on the Recovery fund is a historic occasion, a symptom that a solid, united and supportive Europe exists, which commits its budget to support the countries that are most affected by the crisis. Now we need to make the best use of the 209 billion to reform and revamp the Country. A great development plan is needed to make Italy more competitive and to provide interventions to support the sectors which were most affected by COVID-19. From the first results of the stress tests that we are conducting at CNEL, a very critical situation is emerging in strategic sectors such as logistics, agriculture, health, public services and transport; the situation is dramatic on the tourism front ".
This was stated by Tiziano Treu , President of CNEL who added:
“The resources that will arrive represent a great opportunity to change pace. The planning of public interventions must be addressed within the framework of European indications and linked to community projects, in order to structurally deal with the two major transitions underway: the digital and the environmental transitions, which cross the entire production system in a transversal way. The relaunch of public and private investments is the decisive driving force for the recovery and for the future of the Country. We must immediately activate the construction sites for the investments already planned".
"CNEL has submitted Documents containing Observations and Proposals to the Parliament and to the Government, shared with the most representative social partners, with precise indications on the immediate structural interventions to revive Italy. A plan that cannot ignore a renewed involvement of the economic and social actors of the country in its various aspects. CNEL is the natural seat for the discussions among social partners, and in the months to come our commitment will be to further strengthen our activities, in order to guarantee support to the Government and Parliament in drawing up the Recovery Plan ", concluded Treu.
