The Minister of Labour and Social Policies, Marina Calderone, and the President of the CNEL, Renato Brunetta, today signed an inter-institutional agreement aimed at promoting and optimising their respective competences in a systematic manner.
In particular, the agreement refers to policies for the integration of the immigrant population, the organisation of flows, the management and monitoring of entry quotas for foreign workers and bilateral cooperation with countries of origin. In this regard, there are plans to strengthen and reorganise the National Coordination Body for the Integration Policies of Foreigners (Organismo Nazionale di Coordinamento, ONC), already established at the CNEL on the basis of Legislative Decree. 286/1998, as a technical-operational office of common reference for social dialogue activities and dialogue with local administrations and the third sector.
Moreover, inter-institutional cooperation may include further areas and thematic fields of common interest, also in order to contribute to the evolution of the regulatory and legal framework on labour and social policies, as well as the third sector.
“This agreement”, said Renato Brunetta, “has a special value for the CNEL. Among the central bodies of the State, in fact, the Ministry of Labour remains a crucial reference point for most of the areas on which the National Council for Economics and Labour's work is focused, starting with the critical issue of immigrant workers and integration policies. I thank Minister Calderone for his availability”.
